Following the success of the introductory training session that took place earlier this year, Binance’s Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) team has delivered an advanced training session for the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL). The focus was on real-world case studies based on the FCC team’s own investigations.
The session is part of Binance’s ongoing commitment to strengthening security collaboration in the crypto sector that benefits the entire ecosystem and makes it a safer place for users.
In a world that is becoming increasingly digitized, maintaining security and trust in the digital financial ecosystem is crucial. Rising to the occasion, the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) team at Binance has led an advanced training session for the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) on May 29, 2024.
Having received positive feedback to the introductory training that INTERPOL officers have found insightful, we crafted this advanced session, as the need for deepening their understanding of cryptocurrency investigations and Web3 cyber policing became apparent. Going deeper and drawing upon real-world case studies from Binance’s FCC team’s investigative work, we zoomed in on specific techniques of cryptocurrency crime analysis.
Horest Au Yeung, a representative from INTERPOL, noted, “Attending this training was a truly enlightening experience. Binance’s FCC team shared several real-world case studies, some of which are familiar to many of us, giving us a new perspective on cryptocurrency investigations. This collaboration is valuable and inspiring, and we hope that these sessions can strengthen the officer’s knowledge and capability.”
Jarek Jakubcek, Head of Law Enforcement Training at Binance, said “In my role at Binance, tackling cybersecurity challenges within the crypto landscape is a daily mission. Our collaboration with INTERPOL is not just about joining forces — it is inherently about stepping up to the challenge.”
He added, “We believe in the power of mutual knowledge sharing and collective action. As part of our ongoing commitment, we will continue to work closely with law enforcement agencies around the world to tackle criminal activity.”
Binance representatives Jarek Jakubcek, Carlos Mak, Ferdinando Luca De Pascalis, share expertise with INTERPOL officials in an online session.
In 2023 alone, Binance’s FCC team delivered 120 workshops and training sessions for cybercrime specialists globally while processing more than 58,000 requests from law enforcement agencies. Binance has recently hosted its inaugural online Law Enforcement Training Day, with more than 1,300 law enforcement representatives from 86 countries in attendance.
