Firedancer, a Solana validator software, starts its “Frankendancer” bug bounty on July 10 with $1 million reward for developers.
Participants compete for rewards based on bug severity, with Firedancer’s C/C++ compatibility enhancing Solana’s capabilities.
Supported by Immunefi, the Solana Firedancer bug bounty program aims to secure blockchain systems with safer transactions in Web3 environments.
Jump Crypto is set to launch the first bug bounty program for Firedancer, an independent software aimed at Solana blockchain validators.
Solana Firedancer Bug Bounty Program Launched
The Solana Firedancer bug bounty program, named “Frankendancer,” kicks off on July 10 and spans six weeks, supported by Immunefi with $1 million reward for developers. Its primary goal is to incentivize developers to uncover critical bugs within the Firedancer v0.1 software.
Participants in the Solana Firedancer bug bounty will compete on a leaderboard based on the severity and impact of their bug reports, with higher-ranking contributors earning a larger share of the prize pool.
Firedancer, developed by Jump Crypto, is designed to bolster Solana’s decentralization efforts as an independent validator. Notably, it introduces compatibility with C/C++, marking a significant advancement for developers and high-frequency traders operating on the Solana network.
During a live demonstration in 2022, Firedancer showcased its capability to process over 1 million transactions per second, a stark contrast to Solana’s theoretical limit of 50,000 tps and even exceeding transaction volumes handled by leading service providers like Visa.
Enhanced Security in Blockchain Innovation
Cantelope Peel, a developer involved with Firedancer, highlighted ongoing research and testing of Solana’s consensus and fork selection algorithms, alongside investigations into direct voting mechanisms and other crucial aspects.
Bug bounty initiatives play a crucial role in fortifying Web3 security, aiming to mitigate code-related exploits that have historically led to substantial financial losses across blockchain ecosystems, including Oracle price manipulations and program backdoors.
